A Chippenham man has been charged with a string of serious sexual offences.
63-year-old Clinton Devereux faces two charges of engaging in sexual activity with a woman with a mental disorder and five charges of voyeurism.
The defendant, of Charter Road, is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday) for a first hearing.
He is accused of engaging in sexual activity with a woman who was unable to refuse because of, or for a reason related to, a mental disorder.
One charge alleges sexual touching involving penetration of the woman’s vagina with his fingers, while the second alleges sexual touching without penetration.
Both offences are alleged to have taken place in Chippenham between 1 January 2022 and 14 June 2024.
Devereux is also accused of five voyeurism offences involving a different complainant.
It is alleged that he recorded the woman carrying out a private act without her consent for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification.
The alleged voyeurism offences are said to have taken place in Chippenham between April 2019 and April 2020.
Alleged victims of sexual crimes have the right to lifelong anonymity. It is an imprisonable criminal offence to share any piece of information that could lead to their identification.
