A man has reportedly been crushed to death after a lorry overturned on a bendy country road in Somerset on Thursday (20 August).
Emergency services, including Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance, were called to the A37 at Ston Easton – near Midsomer Norton – at around 2.25pm.
A lorry with a crane attached overturned and collided with a van. It’s understood the lorry ended up on top of the van.
A passenger in the van, a man aged in his 30s, sustained significant injuries and died at the scene. Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that his family has been informed.
The driver of the van attended hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. The lorry driver is not believed to have sustained any physical injury.
The A37 remains closed in both directions this morning. Forensic collision investigation work was carried out overnight and recovery is now underway.
