A man has been arrested for attempted murder after a woman was stabbed in Westbury.
Police responded to reports of a disturbance involving a large number of people at the Westbury Conservative Club at about 12.45am this morning (Sunday).
A 24-year-old woman sustained a knife wound, and was rushed to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol for urgent treatment.
A 21-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder, Wiltshire Police confirmed. He remains in custody for questioning.
The force said that the victim’s injuries are not described as life-threatening or life-changing.
In addition to the stabbing, a 21-year-old woman was on suspicion of two counts assaulting an emergency worker and a third count of assault relating to a member of the public.
DS Kayne Borresen said: “There would have been numerous people present at the venue where this disorder took place.
“We are actively investigating the circumstances in which a woman appears to have been stabbed and others were assaulted.
“It is important that we hear from anyone who was at the scene and may have witnessed what took place.”
