A bloody brick was found by a child after a man was violently attacked in Swindon.
Police responded to a serious assault in the Okus Road area of Old Town at around 11.40am on Thursday morning (13 August).
Officers swarmed the scene, offering basic first aid to the victim – a man aged in his 30s. He refused medical treatment and was allowed to continue on his way.
It’s understood the man has sustained injuries to his head inflicted with a brick in Sandy Lane.
A crime scene was put in place, with numerous small chunks of brick visible. However, at 1.19pm a child pointed out a blood-covered brick in a nearby driveway.
The youngster was thanked and praised by a police officer, who shook her hand. A forensic investigator later attended and recovered the suspected weapon.
In a statement, Wiltshire Police said: “At 11.40am yesterday morning, we responded to a report of a serious assault near Okus Road, Swindon.
“The victim, a man in his 30s, suffered facial injuries and was spoken with, however refused medical treatment.
“A scene was put in place near Okus Road/Sandy Lane to allow for enquiries to take place and has now been lifted.
“Our enquiries are ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact us on 101 quoting reference 54260098251.”
The force did not say whether any arrests were made in connection with the incident.
