A rider has been reported for numerous driving offences after police seized an illegally modified electric bike in Swindon.
Wiltshire Police said officers received reports last week about a modified electric bike being ridden on Buckhurst Field in Walcot.
PC Goode and PC Kimber were patrolling the area when they located the bike and its rider.
The male was reported for driving without insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
Police said the bike had been illegally modified into an electric motorcycle. It was seized by officers and is due to be destroyed in a crusher.
PC Goode said: “An electric bike is illegal to ride on public roads, cycle lanes, or paths if it exceeds a 250W continuous power output, provides electric assistance past 15.5 mph, or operates via a twist throttle without requiring the rider to pedal.
“Illegal e-bikes are an ongoing issue in the area, and we will take a robust approach to their use. This bike on this occasion has been seized and will be destroyed.”
Wiltshire Police also warned parents and guardians that officers are seeing an increase in young people riding illegally modified bikes.
The force said statutory age limits apply and parents or guardians could be held accountable or face a fine if their child is caught using an illegal motor vehicle in public.
Police added that the penalty for driving without insurance alone is six points and a fine.
This could result in a ban for provisional licence holders or drivers who passed their test within the previous two years.
