A Swindon transport company boss killed in a crash with a tree has been named locally.
Robert Boughey, who owned haulage firm Boughey Ltd, died when his Audi RS 3 left the B4040 near Minety shortly after 7pm on Friday evening (7 August).
The 41-year-old dad has been remembered in written tributes by other transport companies on social media and with floral tributes at the scene of the horror smash.
A second man, aged in his 50s, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for urgent care – having been treated by Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance medics.
In a tribute, E.w Gardner & Grandson Ltd posted: ‘Such a sad day hearing of the passing of our dear friend Robidee Rob Boughey, one of life’s true gentlemen, always happy and ready to crack a joke and take the piss.
“We also wish Gary Whittington a full and speedy recovery. Our thoughts and wishes are with Sarah and Bex and both there family’s at this sad sad time.’
Whites Transport Services Ltd added: “Had a phone call this morning with some absolutely devastating news.
“Rob Boughey, who I’ve known for many years, was tragically killed in a car accident last night. I had only spoken to him on the phone a few days ago, which makes it all the harder to take in.
“Rob used to do casual work for me many years ago, and we always kept in touch over the years. He was such a genuinely nice bloke — hilariously funny, with a brutal sense of humour, and always great company.
“A few years ago, he took the brave step of starting out on his own and went on to build a lovely, successful little haulage business. It was great to see him doing so well. Absolutely tragic and far too soon.
“Rest in peace, Rob. You’ll be sadly missed. My deepest condolences to all your family and close friends at this incredibly difficult time.”
Another post by Auto-stable motor movers Ltd read: “3 years ago our bossman had the pleasure of meeting Rob Boughey and from that day they became good friends and stayed in touch!
“Today he mourns the tragic death of Rob, his life cut short in a tragic car accident 😔💔🥲
“RIP Rob so glad I had the pleasure to meet you” condolences to your family, wife and children.
“Your shift is over driver”
