Police officers patrolling Wiltshire’s roads have caught more than 1,000 drivers speeding during the month of July.
Of the 1,285 caught, the vast majority, 1,109, were offered speed awareness courses. Wiltshire Police say this gives them “the chance to learn”.
In the most serious cases, 155 drivers were fined and given points on their licence. 21 are due to appear in court.
In a statement the force said: “Speeding remains one of the leading factors in serious and fatal collisions.
“Throughout July, officers continued targeted enforcement to identify those putting themselves and others at risk.”
“Most drivers were offered the chance to learn. Others now face prosecution”, they added.
