Wiltshire Police’s Roads Policing Unit has revealed the results of a two-day enforcement operation targeting driving offences on the M4.
Operation Lockstream focused on improving road safety and reducing risks for all road users, with officers engaging with motorists and taking enforcement action where offences were identified.
The targeted event led to the arrest of one person on suspicion of handling stolen goods, two arrests for immigration offences, one arrest for theft and one arrest for disqualified driving.
Three people were reported for driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence in connection with stolen goods investigations.
Officers also identified one delayed mechanical defect and issued 24 immediate defect notices.
A total of 21 fixed penalty notices were issued for overweight vehicles, alongside two graduated fixed penalty notices for foreign overweight offences.
Further enforcement included one fixed penalty notice for not wearing a seatbelt, one for having no MOT and one for a tachograph offence.
Four Traffic Offence Reports were issued for drivers with no insurance, while another was issued for a vehicle in a dangerous condition.
During the operation, officers also dealt with three drivers’ hours offences, resulting in a total of £300 in fines.
One vehicle was prohibited from continuing due to its dangerous condition. Another vehicle was seized on suspicion of being stolen, while a further vehicle was seized for having no road tax.
Sharing the outcome, Wiltshire Police’s Roads Policing Unit said: “A successful two days of Operation LOCKSTREAM, focusing on driving offences along Wiltshire’s section of the M4.
“Officers engaged with drivers and took action where needed, with a clear focus on improving safety and reducing risk for all road users.”
