A man is fighting for his life after being seriously assaulted in Cirencester.
Emergency services were called to reports of an attack in Reeves Close at approximately 6.20pm on Thursday (18 June).
The victim, aged in his 20s, was rushed to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol following the violent incident.
Gloucestershire Police today (Friday) confirmed that he remains in a life-threatening condition.
The force said that two men who are believed to know each other had been involved in an argument before one allegedly attacked the other.
The victim was reportedly knocked to the ground and assaulted before the suspect fled the area prior to officers arriving.
A 21-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm and remains in police custody for questioning.
Detectives have carried out door-to-door enquiries in the area following the incident, and officers are said to remain at the scene.
