A man has been named and charged after a van crashed on a Chippenham junction.

Police were called to a single-vehicle road traffic collision outside the probation offices in Park Lane at around 7.30pm on Tuesday evening (16 June).

The incident involved a white Citroen Berlingo van – which had hit railings on the junction with Marshfield Road and near the mini roundabout for Audley Road.

Two people were seen to flee the scene on foot, with officers carrying out urgent searches.

They suspects were located in Greenway Lane a short time later, where arrests were made.

Jake Evans has been charged with failing to stop after a road accident, driving a vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence, using a vehicle without insurance and failing to provide specimen for analysis.

The 18-year-old, of High Street, Sutton Benger, has been bailed and is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates Court on 16 July.

Any witnesses to the collision should call 101 and quote crime reference number 54260071937.
