A Wiltshire firefighter has resigned after allegedly using cocaine while on duty.
An urgent internal investigation is underway following the recent discovery of a Class A substance at Malmesbury Fire Station.
Wiltshire 999s understands the firefighter, a man aged in his 20s, is accused of carrying out his duties while under the influence – and resigned following a drug test.
Speaking about the incident, Assistant Chief Officer Jenny Long confirmed that “there is an on-going investigation in relation to substance misuse” and “the individual concerned has resigned”.
She said that it is “normal practice” that “all formal disciplinary matters are fully investigated and concluded”.
Adding: “Therefore, as this remains a live investigation, we are unable to comment any further.”
At this stage, we are not naming the firefighter involved.
