Shooting a goose to death was ‘an awful thing to do’, Wiltshire Police say.
Officers are investigating the killing of the bird at Jubilee Lake in Royal Wootton Bassett, which is believed to have taken place earlier this week.
The goose is thought to have been shot between 5pm on 18 May and 7.45am on 19 May.
“The goose was discovered yesterday morning (19/05) by a resident with a wound consistent with being shot by an unknown weapon”, a spokesperson for the force said.
“This is an awful thing to do to an animal, and we take incidents like this extremely seriously.
“Anyone with information, who witnessed the incident or witnessed any antisocial behaviour around those times is asked to contact us on 101 quoting reference 54260059728.”
