A number of cattle have miraculously survived after a trailer overturned on the M4.
Emergency services were called to a single-vehicle road traffic collision between junctions 17 and 18, near Chippenham, at around 9am this morning (Thursday).
A livestock trailer being towed by a blue Ford Ranger flipped onto its side in the incident close to the exit slip-road for Leigh Delamere Services.

Police and National Highways closed the motorway westbound while an ambulance crew checked over the driver – who isn’t believed to have been seriously hurt.
A number of cattle within the trailer survived the ordeal, with farmers working to release them from the wreckage and move them into a replacement trailer.

For around 15 minutes, traffic was held in both directions to allow the safe transfer of the cows. A lane past the scene was opened to keep motorists moving.
By around 11.30am, the route had fully reopened following vehicle recovery work.
Wiltshire Police confirmed that the cattle on board the trailer survived.
