A body has been found in a woods amid the search for a missing man in Chippenham.
Police launched an urgent operation to locate the man after concerns were raised for his welfare on Wednesday afternoon (18 March).
Officers were spotted in fields off Sheldon Corner, between Allington Farm Shop and Chippenham Rugby Club.

At the height of the incident, there were six police vehicles parked nearby, including a dog unit. An ambulance rapid response vehicle was also there.
The police dog was deployed in the area, soon locating the man’s body in the trees. The 48-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Forensics and detectives attended to carry out an investigation into the death.
Wiltshire Police confirmed that there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances and that coroner has been informed.
“Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this difficult time”, a spokesperson added.
