A serial domestic abuser has been jailed for attacking his girlfriend twice in two days.

Jordan Hunt was sentenced at Swindon Crown Court on 23 February after admitting a string of offences against the victim, committed in Westbury.

The 28-year-old former soldier, of Victoria Road in Warminster, intentionally strangled his girlfriend on 5 February 2023.

During the same incident, he damaged curtains, a vase and baby items. The following day, he assaulted her again, causing injuries.

Hunt had previously denied the offences and a trial had been listed for December due to court backlogs.

However, he changed his pleas to guilty ahead of the hearing, having delayed the case.

The court was told that, due to his history of domestic abuse, he had been remanded in custody ahead of sentencing.

He was sentenced to a total of 27 months imprisonment. The court said the offences were so serious that only a custodial sentence could be justified.

A restraining order was also imposed and will remain in place until 23 February 2036.

Under the terms of the order, Hunt is prohibited from contacting the victim directly or indirectly, except through two named individuals for the sole purpose of child contact, or via a third party to arrange a single collection of his belongings.

He is also banned from going to a road in Westbury and a road in Codford. The restraining order was made on conviction.

Charges of threatening a person with a knife in a private place and threats to kill, relating to the same victim, were not proceeded with by the CPS but will remain on file.
