A driver has died after lorry crashed into the River Avon in Storm Chandra.
Emergency services were called to the fatal incident in North Gorley near Fordingbridge, about eight miles from the Wiltshire border, on Tuesday (27 January).
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police confirmed that they responded to reports that “a lorry had gone into a river off Ringwood Road” at around 1pm.
Despite the best efforts of 999 crews, the driver – a man aged in his 60s – died at the scene.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding his death”, a force spokesperson added.
