Police have made an arrest following a fatal crash near Trowbridge today (Saturday).
Emergency services were called to a single-vehicle road traffic collision on the A361 at Rode, just over the Wiltshire border, at around 1.45am.
The incident, which happened at the Rode Hill junction, saw a black BMW leave the carriageway and hit a tree as it travelled towards Trowbridge.
The front seat passenger of a black BMW, whose age and gender has not been revealed by Avon and Somerset Police, died at the scene.
A force spokesperson confirmed that while formal identification has yet to take place, their next of kin have been informed.
Officers arrested a man, aged in his 20s, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. After hospital treatment, he was taken into custody for questioning.
