A biker has revealed the extent of his injuries after a fireball crash on the A350.
Shane Jones has spoken out from his hospital bed after suffering serious wounds in a road traffic collision at Stoney Gutter at around 6.45pm on Wednesday (26 November).
The incident, near Trowbridge, sparked a significant emergency response – with the route closed in both directions as 999 crews attended the scene.
Now, the biker involved – Shane Jones – has revealed more about the injuries his sustained.
‘I’m currently at Southmead [Hospital in Bristol]’, he confirmed.
Adding: ‘I have a left femur fracture, a left mid foot brake and a left tibial fracture’.
The motorcyclist claims a driver ‘lost it’ on the bend, ploughing into him head-on. But this has not yet been confirmed by the authorities.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “At 6.45pm last night we were called to a collision involving an Audi A4 and a motorbike on the A350 at Stoney Gutter.
“The car caught fire following the collision. Recovery was arranged and the road closure lifted at 11.10pm.”
A spokesperson for : “Crews from Trowbridge and Melksham were called to the A350 at Stoney Gutter at 6.47pm yesterday evening.
“The incident involved a road traffic collision between a car and motorcycle, with the motorcycle well alight on arrival.
“Firefighters extinguished the motorcycle using a hose reel jet and our stop was in at 7.58pm.”
