The trial of a local teacher accused of sexual assaults has been delayed by six months.
Matthew Torrington was due to stand trial at Winchester Crown Court in October.
The trial was vacated – and re-listed for 11 May 2026 at Salisbury Crown Court.
The former teacher, who worked at schools in west Wiltshire, denies three charges of sexual assault and a single count of non-fatal intentional strangulation.
All four alleged offences relate to the same woman, and are said to have taken place in 2024.
The 36-year-old, of Semington, was released on bail – with conditions not to contact the complainant. The trial is expected to last three days.
Alleged victims of sexual crimes have the right to lifelong anonymity. It is an imprisonable criminal offence to share any piece of information that could lead to their identification.
