A child casualty’s been rescued from a cliff by specialist firefighters from Trowbridge.

Alongside Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, the rope rescue team from Wiltshire attended the scene at Cheddar Gorge, where a child had become injured at around midday.

A fire service spokesperson said: “We received a request from police to assist themselves and ambulance with rescuing a casualty from up on a cliff at Cheddar Gorge.

“Multiple resources from ourselves, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Rescue Service and Avon Fire Rescue Service including fire appliances, a rope rescue team and a turntable ladder.

“Crews liaised with the other agencies and were able to set up the turntable ladder in order to rescue the casualty who was then conveyed to hospital by ambulance.”
