A Swindon man has appeared in court accused of controlling and assaulting his partner.
38-year-old Shaun Cooper pleaded not guilty at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on 29 October.
He denied an allegation of assaulting a woman by beating her in Stoke Gifford, Bristol.
He also denied a charge of engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour while in a relationship with the same woman between Tuesday 5 March and Sunday 27 October.
Due to the seriousness of the case, it was sent to Bristol Crown Court.
The defendant, of Birch Street, will next attend a plea and trial preparation hearing on 3 December. Magistrates granted him conditional bail.
Cooper must live and sleep at his home address and remain there between 5pm and midnight daily, and must not enter the Stoke Gifford area of Bristol as defined by a map.
He’ll be monitored by a GPS tag. He’s also banned from contacting the victim or her children while the case is ongoing.
