A driver has been charged after his lorry overturned on the A350 in Chippenham.
Emergency services were called to a single-vehicle road traffic collision on the major road in the early hours of this morning (Friday).
A HGV fully loaded with wood chips flipped onto its side, spilling its load.
The driver, a 44-year-old man, was arrested at the scene – after being assessed by an ambulance crew and cleared to go to custody.
Michael Maddick, of Portmead, Swansea, has been charged with driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs. He’s due to appear in court next month.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We’ve charged a man after a lorry overturned on the A350 in Chippenham in the early hours of this morning.
“Michael Maddick, 44, of Portmead, Swansea, has been charged with driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs.
“He has been released on bail and is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates Court on November 4.”
The A350 reopened this afternoon, 12 hours after the smash – following a complex recovery operation.
