A Calne woman who assaulted a Wiltshire Police officer has been fined £140.
Tania Wells pleaded guilty to common assault of an emergency worker when she appeared at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on 26 September.
The 31-year-old committed the offence against PC Tim Marshall, as he carried out his duties, at an incident on 5 July this year.
The magistrates took into account that the officer was not injured and the defendant has little income – deciding not to impose an award for compensation.
Wells, of Campion Close, was fined £140 and told to pay a £56 surcharge. The court agreed it could be paid off at a rate of £5 per week.
A second charge, of being drunk and disorderly at Calne Market on 1 August, was dismissed.
