A Swindon paedophile has been discovered dead just hours before sentencing.
John Goff pleaded guilty to a string of offences relating to children and animals back in July.
The 66-year-old was due to appear at Swindon Crown Court in September for sentencing – where he may have faced a prison sentence.
At a previous hearing, the defendant admitted making 75 indecent pseudo-images of a child. Of which, 16 were graded as the most severe – showing penetration.
Prosecutors said the images, collected between August 2014 and April 2023, included young boys and girls – some as young as six or seven.
He also pleaded guilty to possessing 18 still and moving extreme pornographic images involving animals and two prohibited images of a child.
However, Goff was found dead at his home in Argyle Street, Gorse Hill, the same day as his sentencing hearing.
Wiltshire 999s understands that a family member or friend arrived at his home to collect him for his court appearance, but located him deceased inside.
The defendant had registered as a sex offender at Gablecross Police Station in Swindon after his admissions at the first hearing.
