A cyclist has been airlifted to hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest in the Wiltshire countryside.
Emergency services were called to The Street, just north of Yatton Keynell, near Chippenham, at around 3pm this afternoon (Sunday).
A cyclist, whose sex and age is unknown at this time, went into to cardiac arrest while riding along the country lane.
Two ambulance crews, an ambulance officer and a critical care team – including a doctor – from Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance were deployed.
The yellow and green helicopter touched down in a field immediately adjacent to the incident, which happened close to Yatton Keynell Water Tower.
Police closed the road in both directions while the patient received life-saving care.
The cyclist was stabilised and airlifted to Bristol Royal Infirmary for urgent treatment.
The road reopened shortly before 5pm.
