Three men have been charged after a zombie knife was reportedly brandished during the burglary of a home in Brinkworth.

The suspects entered a £500K bungalow in Callow Hill at around 11.10pm on Monday (22 September), inflicting serious injuries on one of the male occupants.

A second male occupant sustained injuries in the incident, and a Vauxhall Corsa outside the property was damaged.

Police launched an urgent investigation into the attack, with CID, the burglary and gang violence team and community policing team (CPT) working the case.

Three men were arrested – and have since been charged.

24-year-old Thomas Allen, of Thorney Park, Wroughton, has been charged with aggravated burglary with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, criminal damage and possession of a zombie knife in a public place.

42-year-old Gary Hines, of The Maltings, Royal Wootton Bassett, faces charges of aggravated burglary, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and criminal damage.

45-year-old Darren Massey, of Thorney Park, Wroughton, is charged with aggravated burglary with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and criminal damage.

All three suspects have been remanded in custody.

DC Rebecca Taylor said: “These arrests and subsequent charges have come about as a result of a joined up investigation by CID, burglary and gangs team and CPT.

“I am pleased we have been able to secure charges swiftly after this incident took place.

“I would like to reassure the public that incidents of this nature are taken extremely seriously and there is no wider threat to the community.”
