UPDATE: Bomb threat at Cirencester College deemed to be hoax – police
A college has been locked down as police respond to a ‘serious threat’.
Officers were called to Cirencester College at around 4pm today (Wednesday).
A spokesperson confirmed: “The college is currently in lockdown whilst we investigate a threat.”
According to parents, pupils have “been sent to the field as alarms going off”.
Wiltshire 999s understands the threat relates communication about a bomb being on the site – however, investigations are ongoing to establish whether it is a hoax.
Rumours on social media of a knife-related incident are believed to be false.
A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Constabulary said: “We’re in attendance at Cirencester College after the college initiated a lockdown.
“Enquiries are taking place to gather more information and establish what has happened.”
It comes after two bomb threats were made to schools in Swindon and Devizes on Tuesday (16 September). The incidents were said not to be linked.
